Get Ready For The Year of the Entrepreneur (2021)

I am convinced 2021 is the year more companies than ever before will be launched and we have the pandemic and stay-at-home orders to thank for that. But let’s be clear, this wasn’t the governments plan all this. This is resourceful and hungry individuals who now have time to explore their strengths and interests. They are looking to diversify their income streams and insulate against government shutdowns and company downsizes.

My theme going into 2021 is all around entrepreneurship and achieving my personal goals. I have a 4 distinct objectives with supporting key results that I am tracking against throughout the year.

Grow a Small Business

I’m searching for a small business to get involved in on a sweat equity basis. I want to take what I’ve learned from working in a high growth startup and apply those lessons to a small business. Somewhere I can bring my experience in establishing process, supporting sales, and executing on a plan. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners, I’m passionate about this space and want to play a critical role in an entrepreneur’s journey. This type of business must already have found product market fit, generating revenue, and looking for assistance.

Start a Failing Business

This might be my 2021 advice to everyone. Most creative and experienced people are too scared to start a business because they are afraid of failing. If you give yourself permission to fail, what you’re really doing is giving your permission to start. Starting the business is the hardest part. I’m personally working to launch my own failing business and will provide updates in early 2021.

Build Personal Brand

This one has been a longtime coming. Being a huge YouTube consumer I’ve always made excuses for not getting in front of the camera but the reality of YouTube turning in an additional income stream is too large to ignore. I’ll tackle this on three fronts: YouTube, LinkedIn, NikFuller.com. I will cover these in a more in-depth post but the general goal is to get on a personal content delivery schedule to make a name for myself in the business/technology/entrepreneur niche.

Continue Strong Work Performance

Most critical of all, it’s important to balance all these goals with continued strong performance at my full-time job which is demanding to say the least. In my new role, I am launching a new offering and product for the company into an existing market. I am primarily focused on understanding the market, delivering customer demos, pushing the sales team and deals forward, and guiding our product team to build the right features. It’s been very rewarding so far and I do not want to lose sight of this.

I would encourage everyone reading this to start a failing business in 2021. Call/text/email me if you want help or a fresh pair of eyes on your business.
