Māau (maau1)
Māau pronounced like “mao” which sounds like the sounds a cat makes. So māau is Cantonese for cat.

Even though I’m a dog person, I love it because it’s so easy to remember! It was pretty embarrassing at how excited I got when I learned this word. Donkey (our dog) thought I had traded teams to the feline side. Never fear Donkster, for I will always be team gáu (dog).
