Seinfeld: “What’s The Deal With Airplane Food?”

Four single friends — comic Jerry Seinfeld, bungling George Costanza, frustrated working gal Elaine Benes and eccentric neighbor Cosmo Kramer — deal with the absurdities of everyday life in New York City.

As a businessman and actor Jer-bear is very accomplished. According to Wikipedia, he earned $100 million from syndication deals of the show. He even did some movie about bees. And now has a web series that I occasionally watch.

I missed the Seinfeld train when it first left the station. Maybe I wasn’t the main demographic, not yet born, or maybe it wasn’t highbrow enough for me but I definitely missed the train. Even after I was born, fitting Seinfeld’s main demographic, I heard how great the show was on VH1’s We Love the 90s but binge watching wasn’t as popular back in those days so I never gave it much thought.

As I matured and stopped watching Spongebob, I would indulge in an episode of Seinfeld every blue moon (1.16699016 × 10-8 hertz according to Google). A friend in high school, yes that’s around the time I stopped watching Spongebob, loved Seinfeld. She had every episode on DVD but I never took advantage of that opportunity.

Traveling as much as I did in 2014 made it difficult to get in a rhythm but I always enjoyed Seinfeld on Friday nights on TBS. Going out before 10:30pm on a Friday was always a struggle since I didn’t want to miss my show.

Now that the travel has stopped (at least for now) I have fallen into a comfortable home life. I get to see my beautiful girlfriend everyday, walk our little mini schnauzer pup and laugh along with Jerry and the gang. Their shenanigans about nothing cause me to shoosh my little family when my show is on.

If I were to estimate, I would say I have seen 30-40 episodes of Seinfeld, barely scrapping the surface of all 180. Around November of 2014, TBS aired the final episode of the series and restarted back at season 1 episode 1. I consistently watched for two weeks until it was interrupted by holidays and vacations. I’m now somewhere in the middle of the series and George is engaged.

With the advent of Netflix binge watching, I occasionally get sucked into a show and power through all the seasons. I have already seen How I Met Your Mother and am currently watching Friends on Netflix’s lineup. I’m patiently waiting for Seinfeld to be the next show about a group of friends to land a home on the popular streaming site.
