Soundtrack Of The Day

I’ve been playing some YouTube videos in the background all morning and figured I’d share my favorites with my loyal audience. (I’m looking at you, mom.) They’re all from live performances at KEXP and all very familiar feeling but distinct in their own way. I’m a fan a dirty/blues/grungy guitars and gravely vocals.

St. Paul and the Broken Bones

What a great sound and feel. This guy can really sing and his horn section makes me want to break out ol’ Ella, my forgotten trigger trombone.

Gary Clark JR.

This guy can shred the guitar. Love his dirty blues sound. Makes me want to have a drink and pretend I had a tough childhood growing up.

Alabama Shakes

Love the strong female vocals and soul sound with the punk rock edge.

Share some new music with me! No Mary Chapin Carpenter – sorry mom.

  1. Great stuff. Recently, I’ve really been into Hurray for the Riff Raff, which is a folksy-blues band from Louisiana.
